Brave New Word

Brave New World is a killer Syfi that is placed 600 years in the future which  is divided between a utopian civilization and a cultish savage land, in a world that humans are made in a laboratory. The people are given specific instructions before birth. Happiness is the only goal in this world and they arrive with with such enthusiasm with a drug called soma. This book was written to show how far advanced we are getting when it come to advances in science and what we might end up with if we take it too far with science or have we already? So go check it out it is a great book with a few interesting characters and chapter.

Should high school students read this book?

I really don't think it is important for high school student to read the Catcher in the Rye because overall I don't think it was a very good book at all, I thought it was very boring because all the book was Holden Caufield's inner thoughts about people, things, and places in his life. I read three pages about Holden just talking about suitcases. It seemed like every other word Holden said was a curse word. I really don't feel like I learned anything about anything by reading this book. For the fact that it is boring and that I really didn't see a point in reading the book because it didn't teach me anything at all and that the book didn't have a point to it. I don't think high school students should read it in my opinion.

Restaurant review

I have been going to Smokin Joe's for years, they have always been the best when it comes to BBQ and they never disappoint. Also the price is not bad when considering the heaping pile of food they give you and the fact its homemade. I have been to many places that are considered to be the best BBQ in Kansas city and I believe that Smokin Joe's is up there. If you like great BBQ I would have to recommend that Joe's be the place to go.                                          

Is The catcher in the rye still relevent today?

I really feel like the Catcher in the rye is no longer relevent today because the book was written a long time ago in the 1950's. Now that it is 2011 a lot of things have changed since then especially in society, none of the same things apply. Plus I feel like today no one has any innocence anymore at all because even at a very young age people have already been exposed to the bad thing in life. No matter what anyone tried to do no one can help try and keep people's innocence. Overall the Catcher in the rye was a very good book but it has absolutly no relevence this day in age, but back in thr fifties I would say yes it would be relevent.

compare/contrast catcher and the rye to BNW

Catcher-
1. One difference about the Catcher and the rye is that Hoden holds on to everything that happens to him for way too long, like his emotions and dramatic events that happened throughout his life. Just like when his little brother Allie died and no matter what holden does think about him and talks to him even though he isn't there.
2. When holden thinks about or is about to have sex for some reason he feels really guilty because he feels like he will b taking away his and someone elses innocence and for that reson he can not do it.
3. In the book innocence does exist and Holden trys to fine ways for people to keep their innocents and hold on to it.

BNW-
1. In Brave New world feelings come and go all the time. People have sex with other people their are no relationships or anything and they do drugs and all kinds of stuff with no emotions.
2. People have sex all the time with multiple people everyday and with no regret or feeling of guilt about it.
3. Innocence in Brave New World absolutly no innocence exist no matter what depending on any situation.

Comparisons-
1. Sex happens in both the book wether it be good or bad.
2. In the books they refer to romeo and juliet.
3. Death is apparent in both the books. Allie died in catcher in the Rye and in BNW john the savage dies.

Should Catcher in the rye be banned?

I dont feel like The Catcher in the Rye should not be banned in schools and libraries this day in age because a lot of things have changed form the 1950's to present day 2011. The book is sixty years old now and the things in it are really not that bad in society today. If I lived in the 1950's I would for sure would have banned this book from schools and libraries because the things in the Catcher in the Rye were looked at very differntly and than today in 2011. For example when Holden was cursing all the time in the book it really didn't bother me because I hear language like that all the time, but in the 1950's that wasn's the way people talked at all they really didn't cuss that much. Then the other side of it is if I banned the book so that people couldnt read it then that would make me the catcher in the rye because I would be sheltering and protecting people from the bad stuff in life just so that they keep their innocence. Also if you bannned this book all it does is make it more desirable for people to read and see what's in it the book that makes it so bad.
